ATAtude diving was formed by George K. Watson to provide the finest in recreational and technical dive training.
George is a very active diver with hundreds of dives. He dives for pleasure regularly, both recreationally and technically. George trains continuously, looking to
refine the skills that will give him and his students the necessary tools to accomplish their diving goals.
George began diving in 1974 in Monterey, CA at the age of 14. He was first certified that year by NASDS, now part of SSI. Two years later, as part of a college physical education course, he was certified by NAUI. George dove as often as his meager budget could support in those years. In 1982, George began a very active and intense rock climbing and mountaineering career which left little time for diving. He managed to author 60+ first ascents from the mid-80's to the mid-90's. A series of injuries left George unable to train and climb at his previous levels and caused him to return to diving. Since that time George has earned numerous recreational and technical certifications including GUE Fundamentals, NACD full cave and TDI Advanced Trimix. He has also becoma an active instructor, a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer with numerous specialties, a TDI technical diving and gas blending instructor and most recently, a UTD recreational and technical instructor. George feels very well aligned with UTD's team approach to diving, it's openness and inclusivity, and the excellence and rigor of its courses at all levels. |
